The Perfumed World of Carthusia

I had a chance to visit a little homely-feeling factory and boutique store of the famous perfume producer Carthusia, right in the beautiful island of Capri in Southern Italy. Something that started once from the ancient recipes of Carthusian monks, has by now grown into a lovely family-run company, importing way beyond the borders of Capri. What hasn’t changed, however, is their passion for creating their products, exploring new and interesting fragrances and using as much as they can the original raw materials straight from the wonderful nature of Capri.

Carthusia Factory & Boutique

When it came to choosing perfumes for myself, I was really in trouble. Actually, I remember only once before the same thing happening to me. It was when I got confused in Grasse, in the famous factory of Fragonard perfumes, right next to Nice in Southern France. Simply too much to choose from and I really wanted to take my time.

At the end I picked two favorites, one of them being an old classic among Carthusia perfumes and as I was told, also one of their bestsellers. The other one again, is one of their new special launches.

Via Camerelle by Carthusia

Via Camerelle is the ultimate summer perfume that rapidly took its place among my favorites. It’s named after the most famous street of Capri – Via Camerelle – and is really capturing the island’s unique passion for life and subtle elegance. The perfume is full of the freshness of lemon and orange, carefully balanced with the notes of musk and cedar. It really speaks of summer love and allows you to take the unique atmosphere of the little paradise island with you to wherever you are. Capri bottled, it’s as simple as that.

The Essence of Central Park by Carthusia

The Essence of Central Park, on the other hand, is one of the newest creations of Carthusia and I just love not only the perfume itself, but also the idea behind it. It’s a collaboration project with the famous Central Park Conservancy in New York and part of its revenue is being donated to preserve this wonderful green oasis in the middle of The Big Apple. A uniqe collaboration between two green “islands” in order to celebrate the very essence of nature. It starts with refreshing green notes, but soon the notes of magnolia, citrus and wood start to play, creating a unique combination that won’t get unnoticed. Compared to Via Camerelle, it’s definitely a perfume with stronger nature and is suitable to wear all year around.

Until next time!
