Dining in Dominic Style

Candlelight reflecting on champagne glasses, soft shadows playing around you, hushed tones and lowered voices – that’s what makes a perfect fine dining experience, as I see it. Not to mention the tastes you are experiencing, of course.

I visited recently restaurant Dominic in Tallinn, Vene Street, and was left utterly pleased with this both professional and tasty experience. The food was presented elegantly and the taste combinations offered, perfectly matched with recommended wines. As for the starter, we opted for a glass of Veuve Clicquot Rosé and grilled scallops that was a perfect start, the sweetness of scallops being beautifully emphasized by the chosen champagne.

We continued with a pan-fried foie gras and a masterfully made duck with mushroom polenta, both noble ingredients that were prepared with the respect they deserve. Unfortunately there was no room left for a desert, but a beautiful refreshing surprise was still served on the house in order to finish the meal.

During all evening, the service was immaculate and the recommendations on both food and drinks, very professional. What was especially lovely, was the unexpected live music – lovely ballads played on a stylish white pianoforte. All in all, a truly memorable fine dining experience in the heart of Tallinn Old Town.
